Wine Stain For Your Reading Pleasure

Why All Wine Connoisseurs Must Purchase A Wine Storage Cooler

As the years pass, the quality and taste of wine changes. The manner in which wine is stored can either slow or hasten this natural process. Whether you are storing white or red wine, sparkling whine or champagne, it may be necessary to invest in a wine storage cooler in order to protect your assortment of fine beverages.

Wine storage coolers are available in a vast array of stores. Even the lower end consumer retailers have gotten into the party. It is not uncommon to find great deals on these products from stores like Walmart and Target. Of course, for the more luxurious wine aficionados out there, high end retailers have more aesthetically pleasing and electronically sound wine storage cooler for sale.

What does a wine storage cooler do? It sounds simple and many of you are probably wondering why not just use the household refrigerator. The reason for this is that the storage temperature required for food to be kept fresh and the temperature required to keep wine properly cooled is different.

Food generally requires a much lower temperature. Another reason is that the continuous opening of the refrigeration causes temperature readings to change. Wine needs to be kept at a constant temperature in order to preserve its color, taste and quality.

Another problem to consider is that different types of wine require different temperature settings. You are not going to have this flexibility with a standard refrigerator. Many wine storage cooler are manufactured with the ability to delegate different temperature and humidity zones. For instance, if you have a fine bottle of white and a deep red wine, you can set two different settings in your wine storage cooler to ensure the preservation of the liquid.

Besides the obvious usefulness of the wine storage cooler, there is an aesthetic component to having one in your home. When a visitor sees a wine storage cooler, the immediate connection is made with luxury and class.

There are a ton of products on the market for you to choose from. The best way to begin your search is by viewing consumer reports, fine wine magazines and doing some Internet research.

If you go to wine tasting events, you might want to ask some of the other attendees and even the wine manufacturers which devices are the best to keep your wine as fresh as possible.

Ice Cream @ Golden Lounge

Wed, 03 Dec 2008 22:39:00 -0800
I was at the Golden Lounge yesterday having a chat with my customer and he wanted to let me taste the new range of ice-cream which they just brought in to replace the Haagen Daz mini tubs. I was quite devastated when they replaced the Haagen Daz but I know that the cost is also their main reason for terminating it. The new ice-cream from California (I'm unsure of the brand) comes in big tubs and thus the waitress will be serving the ice-cream by scoops upon request. There is a dessert menu on th

How To Succeed In Business...Without Really Trying

Wed, 03 Dec 2008 12:00:12 -0800
The dreaded business dinner. After a fourteen hour work day, you really don't feel like entertaining some snotty clients from out of town. But if you believe a key component to succeeding in business is wooing the clients, at least do so in an environment that serves delectable food and wines. We were recently dragged to a business dinner with our boss at Via Matta, and felt as if the restaurant was the reason for the dinner's success. Start off in the bar where a glass of wine can mellow your

In fact, by keeping my Mac PowerBook close at hand, I just might be reporting on and following thoughts, ideas and friends via Twitter, that ubiquitous social networking site (just follow me @EveSieminski). Six months ago, I would never have dreamed of discovering a favorite wine through a site like Twitter. But that’s just what happened when Jeff Stai

Discover Floor Standing Wine Racks

If you are a wine lover and live in an apartment, floor standing wine racks are the best choice in lieu of the traditional wine cellar.

Nowadays wine racks come in a wide variety, holding anywhere from six to hundreds of bottles. They can enhance your kitchen/dining area/bar as they are manufactured out of various materials to match your taste, furniture and decor.

Wood, metal, and wrought iron are only some of the many materials used to make floor standing wine racks.

Some of the most efficient, inexpensive, easy to use and maintain are the wire wine racks.

Why invest in a floor standing wine rack?

Wine is a special beverage and demands proper care. Storing it at the right angle and temperature is the key to its maintenance.

Floor standing wine racks are designed to store wine at the right angle -- that is horizontally. In this position the wine is in contact with the cork, keeping it from drying out and getting air in the bottle, which would negatively alter the taste if allowed to occur.

Most old red wines have sediment, which means one must avoid shaking/moving the bottle in order to preserve the wine. Wine racks hold the contents in a stable fashion to avoid movement.

Temperature is another factor which determines the wine's proper storage. The optimum temperature is 50-55F.

Wire wine racks are the best choice if you don't have a floor standing wine rack cabinet with regulated temperature. A 10 degrees variance will not affect the wine, but sudden changes from warm to cold may cause the wine to age prematurely.

Wire wine racks are a good choice because they let the air circulate and keep the temperature down. They are easy to assemble, lightweight and very durable.

Wire wine racks like most other racks can have their top shelf converted into a table to store wine glasses, decanter, serve cheese or display the wine which would be served with diner.

Floor standing wine racks give a note of sophistication to any room. They make a good conversation topic and tell your guests that you not only appreciate wine but you know how to take care of it.

Wine has become the most fashionable drink, now a glass of red wine a day is even being advocated by some doctors for health reasons... so, go ahead, invest in as many floor standing wine racks as you need to ensure your and your wine's good health.

Enjoy!

Phoenix Napa Sangiovese Blood of Jupiter

People that know great Sangiovese love the Phoenix "Blood of Jupiter" wine. We used longer skin contact during fermentation than we have in the past with this variety (up to 23 days total), which helped capture the essence of the grape by extracting more color and other compounds from the grape skins. These options were made possible due to a growing season that provided grapes which were almost perfectly ripened when finally harvested. A slightly shorter barrel aging period with this vintage helped to capture the intensity of the fruit characters. Jeff Morgan of the Wine Spectator wrote "Bright raspberry, cherry, and spice flavors lead the way in this juicy, fruity wine, which is tempered nicely by herbal notes, good acidity and firm tannins...Fun to drink".
